The story of Argiolas is one of a family winery that was started in the early 1900s in Serdiana, south of Sardinia. Nowadays run by the third generation, it's Sardinia’s leading wine producer, with five estates located throughout the south of the island: Sisini, Serdiana, Selegas Sa Tanca, Selegas Bingias Beccias, Porto Pino.
The family has given itself the project of selecting and conserving native Sardinian grape varieties alongside more familiar names. They currently grow 11 varieties: Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Bovaleddu, Malvasia, Carignano, Nuragus, Nebbiolo, Moscato, Caricagiola and Nasco. And the process begins with mass selection in order to observe, identify and select the plants suitable for winemaking with balanced growth and yield and free from harmful agents such as moulds or viruses.
