Kir-Yianni was established in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris, a leading figure in Greece’s wine sector, following in the footsteps of four generations of winemakers.
With its two wineries in the mountainous appellations of Naoussa and Amyndeon of NW Greece, Kir-Yianni is mastering the Xinomavro grape, the noblest of all Greek reds. The wines combine style with authenticity, and offer true enjoyment.
The expanding family business is one of the leading estate wineries of Greece, with presence in more than 30 countries worldwide.

'Wines made from Xinomavro, the rare red indigenous grape variety of northern Greece, are rugged and intriguing, spicy and crisp, complex and surprising.
'Clones with bigger bunches and berries are best suited for Kir-Yianni's intensely aromatic rosés, like Akakies, which is a great match with seafood, especially during the Shanghai crab season.
'Clones with smaller bunches and berries are used for Kir-Yianni's ageworthy red wines, like Diaporos, which is delicious with rich meat dishes like Beijing duck, Hangzhou Dongpo braised pork or even more spicy dishes from the Sichuan cuisine.'
